Western Digital 2TB RE4 Review - Fastest 2TB Internal Hard Drive

If you're one of those hungry for speed enthusiasts and looking for the fastest 2TB internal hard drive, the Western Digital 2TB RE4 is the king in this category. The RE4 is almost the same as the WD 2TB Caviar Black, but loaded with a feature that increases its reliability that makes your data even safer. This is an enterprise drive that is built to gain extra speed besides its reliability.
What Makes The WD RE4 Fast?
The Western Digital RE4 is all about speed, Engineers at this company are devoted to create a state of the art lightning fast hard drive. This hard drive is packed with huge disk space of 2TB, to make sure that you never run out of storage for your wide collection of files. The WD RE4 runs at 7,200rpm for fast data transfer, making all your programs and games runs at vast speed.
To further add in its speed, a 64MB cache buffer is included to store most frequently used data for faster access time in a SATA 3GB/s interface. The WD RE4 is made of 4 platters in a 3.5 inch form factor. It has a total of 8 read/write heads and 500GB each platter capacity.
A dual processor design to make it twice the performance you'll need. A dual actuator technology is added for accurate head positioning. The first actuator serves as for coarse displacement using the electromagnetic actuator and the second uses a piezoelectric motion to fine tune its head positioning. In this kind of technology, you get a fast head positioning for accurately fast data access. With the Dual Actuator, a 0.4ms improvement in access time compare to other drives.
The RE4 has a drive shaft anchored at both ends not only in just one end. This feature is called the StableTrac, it further reduces the vibrations and noise while increasing its life span. This improves more durability and a silent running drive compared to other hard drives.
All Western Digital hard drives feature a "No Touch" technology. It means that, all read/write heads never touch the platters and automatically park at shuts down. Western Digital is giving a 5 year warranty to make sure of your purchase.
The WD RE4 enterprise is equipped with more additional features for making it more reliable. The multi-axis sensor protects the data written on the drive by automatically detects any shock events that may occur. The RAFF enhancement technology that monitors the drive to correct both linear and rotational vibration, thus resulting in a more reliable drive even in a high vibration environment.
To increase further its reliability, each drive is put into a burn-in-test in 24/7 operation with thermal cycling. In addition to that, each read/write head is adjusted in Dynamic Fly High in real-time for optimum reliability. Another is the Time Limited Error Recovery (TLER), this prevents the drive fallout caused by the extended drive error which is mostly common with desktop drives.
Performance
The Western Digital RE4 was tested against the 2 famous hard drives with the same capacity of 2TB. Among these are the   Seagate  Barracuda XT 2TB and WD Caviar Black 2TB, All drives are running at 7,200rpm.
For this test, two partitions are made on the same disk, a file was created on one partition and to be copied in the other partition. File transfer on the same drive on a different partition forces the drive to do two tasks at the same time that puts them under heavy loads. The first is reading the files on the source drive, second is writing on the destination drive. The time to complete these operations is measured with the speed of the drives, one is for reading and the other one is for writing.
The first test was the large file transfer with 3.4GB size. The Write/Read speed performance. WD RE4 rules the read speed while the WD Caviar Black tops in write. The  Seagate  Barracuda XT was slightly quicker in read compare with WD Caviar Black, but slower in write.
Barracuda XT dominates the write speed and the WD Caviar Black rules the read speed. However, the WD RE4 doesn't tops on both category it shows the most impressive performance and having a very small margin compare with those two competing drive.
Conclusion
The Western Digital 2TB RE4 shows the most impressive performance with all of these competing drives. The WD Caviar Black in second place with the  Seagate  Barracuda XT on third, although not much in a bigger way. These two are also worthy to be a great contender.
The additional features of the RE4 enterprise level don't go far the leads in terms of speed performance, but still that advancement pays off. The main focus for this drive is reliability that keeps your data even more secure, this is what an enterprise version is. This is ideal for servers that demands write intensive applications as well as for longer time operations.
What about the price? The price for the WD RE4 is $70 higher than the Barracuda XT and $80 compare with the Caviar Black at this time. Is the price difference worth? Yes, beside its speed performance it's got the highest reliability you can get in any hard drive which is very important in keeping your most valuable data safe. If the price would not be a problem, and your craving for an extra speed and a more secure data, go for it!

The Intel Forecast and Flash Drive Technology

My experience with Flash Drive Technology as opposed to CD Storage, has drastically changed in the usage of external and internal data storage. I have struggled with several types of data conservation and storage for many years. The upgrading of this particular hardware has decidedly corrected the dilemma. While searching for the ultimate storage media for the many types of data to which I am involved, I ran across an advertisement for flash drives. Some people identify them as "jump drives." The convenient drive(s) allows for instantaneous storage and convenience as opposed to having to burn data to a CD driven storage media device. It also allows for the saving of desktop or closet/cabinet space and fits on the end of a key chain as easily as dropping the item into a pocket of brief case. The devices have a storage capacity that exceeds many CD's, as high as 8 to 15 Gigabytes of better. Whereas, a CD may only have a capacity of only 700 Megabytes.
My review of two articles by Don Clark "Intel Forecast Signals Strong Technology" and Lee Gomes, "As Disk Drives Reach New Milestones, Flash Gains New Currency," I am inclined to agree with the majority of the information therein.
The experience of Flash Drive usage lends input from this writer's point of view. The introduction and usage of flash drives came into existence for me in 2003, while studying

computer science at the Berean Institute of Philadelphia. The experimentation and usage of these drives made for good storage media and practically wiped out our usage of floppies.
Various software applications and hardware equipment was the prime directive within the computer lab. Floppy drives were the dominant media in those days but, they just did not have the storage capacity needed for storing programs and reports. The floppy has only 1.5 megabytes of storage while the earliest flash drive media has 256 megabytes of storage. And all the while they kept getting bigger and bigger. From 256 megabytes to 512 megabytes, these drivers became the rage of our Computer Science and Business Administration, Information Technology, and Business Intelligence Communities.
Mr. Gomes was right on target with his report. These convenient and devices have continually and continue to evolve into major mass media storage. Mr. Gomes speaks of 1 gigabyte sized flash drive devices and larger in the coming years. Will the flash drive storage capacity ever reaches a limit on its storage size? I believe that I will wait and see.
The utilization of CD's for software storage is greatly appreciated by computer users, music lovers, movie lovers, and the mass technology population. It's capacity to store large amounts of data are a necessary media tool for computer and mainframe users.
Albeit, tape drives all the storage media of choice for many technicians. The large capacity flash drives 16 and 32 Gig's, of which Mr. Gomes speaks, will be a much welcomed commodity. I wonder if the average PC user is in need of 100 Gig's of storage? I'll wait for that time to come as well. Semiconductors that are produced by the Intel Corporation and comparable companies do indeed support evidence that technology demand is broad based and accelerated, as reported by Mr. Clark. The Intel remark also supports the encouraging signs regarding the health of the computer market, including its related products.
Although this reporter's interest in primary mainframes and its revenue are not a focal point, the market health of PC's is. Hewlett-Packard Co.'s report its third quarter earnings rose 33% in its fiscal third-quarter, according to Don Clark also points out Dell Inc.'s subsequent jump in its profit earnings, as did   Seagate  Technology.  Seagate  Technology manufactures disk drives. Its benchmarking rival, Western Digital Corp., reported its revenue progression also, said Mr. Clark.
Don Clark stated Bill Watkins' views of an "explosive growth in the industry over the next five years." Apple Inc. reached its goal of i-phone sales, as reported by Mr. Clark. At Jeffries an Co., Mr. Lau, an analyst at the co., said demand is surging from the companies that purchase PCs for employees as reported Mr. Clark. He also said that growth is strongest in notebook PCs. Mr. Clark quoted Paul Bell of Dell Inc. as stating, "notebooks continue to explode as a category." The competition between Intel and AMD is forcing both companies to step up the pace of product introductions and price reductions. This action boosts the appeal of both consumer and business companies, reported Don Clark.
This reporter goes on to state the long awaited version of the Opterion Chip line for PC and Network servers. The chip is reported to have the equivalent of four electronic brains on a single silicon piece. Don Clark continued to report Intel shares fell on the stock exchange while AMD's shares rose.
The report(s) were very informative and enlightening. It is recommended reading for individuals with interests in computer technology.

The Truth About Online Backup Services

Now, I will admit part of me is thinking, "What in the heck am I doing trusting an online backup company far away to store my data?"
None of us is conditioned to trust people we don't know or let them see our data.
We have become a paranoid nation...No one is supposed to see my stuff!
With HIPAA laws to protect us from other people finding out our health records -- like anyone really cares about my health records -- and screen shields to keep the guy at the next table at the coffee shop from seeing our work, we are afraid of data-peeping Toms.
My feeling was, it is MY data and I just don't want someone else's prying eyes looking over it seeing all my work and my play.
With all that said, what is the truth about online backup services and can they give you peace of mind?
Can they really simplify our lives or they just another opportunity for a gullible public to get screwed and look like an idiot?
Make up your own mind, but I confronted my fears about sending my data way off to be stored and started using internet backup some time ago...
Here is the logic I used in deciding to trust the online service:
1. Just thinking about backing up is worthless...it is done daily -- I wasn't doing backup daily (I am embarrassed to admit, not even weekly.)
2. The backup copy needs to be stored remotely or it is worthless -- My external drive was kept at my house.
3. The external hard drive I was using started to have maintenance issues -- I was constantly dealing with   Seagate  customer support to figure out if my  data  was actually being

stored on the drive.
4. Admitting to myself the solution had to be automatic or it wouldn't work.
What is the truth about online backup services? The real story is, the model isn't perfect but it works. It is cheap -- about $5 a month and you can set everything up one time an forget about it.
Bottom line -- If you choose one of the larger services, like Mozy or Elephant Drive, you can sleep at night knowing your data is protected.

External Hard Drive - Keeps Your Data Protected

A storage device that functions similar to an internal hard drive with the only difference that it can be connected via a USB port and is placed outside the CPU is called an external hard drive. The device is very popular for the simple reason that it makes your data portable and secure from threats. With heavy internet access the hard drive is exposed to threats like virus, spyware and Trojan horses. It becomes important to safeguard your data from such threats and this is possible only with a highly secure external drive. Not just online threats even many people using the same system can put your sensitive documents at risk. This is where password encryption comes handy. Moreover with multimedia information on the rise need to store this digital information safely become a priority, which can be done using external drives.
Sitting outside the computer enclosure the external hard drive acts as a storage device that lets users to store any type of data either for sharing or for backup. Many use external drive for backup purpose, incase the internal hard drive fails. The external drive is connected to the computer with the help of a high speed interface cable. The external device can be connected to the computer using USB port. These days you can find high speed USB 3.0 interface that allows data transfer twice the speed of a 7200 SATA drive and ten times that of USB 2.0 interface. The drive is small and compact and can fit into your pant pocket or your purse comfortably. Some drives come with power grip that protects the drive from rough handling.
External hard drive comes in a number of interfaces like USB and FireWire. Depending on the port availability a drive can be chosen from the market. Some drives also come with both the interfaces making it versatile. Large backup of movies, music, graphic and games can be taken comfortably on the external drive as it comes in terabyte capacity. The device also comes with 256 bit hardware encryption that when enabled allows access to only authorized users. This is a welcome feature that protects the external drive from the prying eyes of trespassers. The external drive is easy to operate and does not require any special software for backup, though most of the manufacturers offer free backup software that can be downloaded from their website. Some even offer online backup up to a few gigabytes free space.
The easy access feature of the external hard drive has made it highly popular. You can carry sensitive data with you wherever you go. Once the computer recognizes the drive, the drive is assigned a letter and you can start transferring files to and fro onto the external drive. It works just like an internal hard drive. Huge files can be transferred back and forth without any hassle. The device can take as many rewrites as possible and can stay with you for long. You would realize that backup on the external drive is very useful especially when you experience internal disk failure.

My Opinion on Portable External Hard Drives

Hi all my name is Kerron, and basically I just wanted to share my opinion on why I think portable external hard drives are a very valuable device to have around. We all have massive amounts of data stored on our internal hard drives whether it's PC or Mac, and if your like me, the thought of losing all my music collections, videos, photos and important software can be a terrifying experience.
Well I was fortunate (not really) to have one of those so called "Blue Screen Of Death" moments where apparently some sort of system file got corrupted, or so Windows said and for nothing it would boot into my profile. Needless to say, I have never done any sort of backing up in my life ( when I first heard the term "back up" I thought it to be a very difficult and tedious process that only people with technical knowledge could perform) which is why i never really bothered with the task.
Luckily for me I was able to take my PC to the local computer repair shop, and after a quick diagnostic ( like literally quick, the guy powered it on took one look at the error and said he's gonna have to reformat my hard drive), he then asked if I had previously backed up my data at any point prior to the crash. I kept my cool, and with a calm, relaxed voiced I replied NO. After a very cheeky smile, he told me not to worry he would be able to retrieve my data and "back it up" to a portable external hard drive so he can restore it later. That term external hard drive had sparked my interest.
I was a bit curious to find out how it worked and was getting ready for some long tech jargon (that i would probably have to go look up after agreeing with what he said). Instead he brought out this little back box no bigger than the palm of my hand which isn't very big, and explained all that all he needed to do was plug it into the USB port and after the windows recognises it automatically, it's as easy as copy and pasting what ever type of data I like across to the external drive. Now the process to retrieve my data was a more complicated one (which I didn't quite fully understand) so I won't get into that. But I was sold on the idea of this little black box that is capable of holding my most valuable data, and the process of " back up" was as simple as copy and paste.
After getting my PC back up an working (big smile), I decided to invest in one of those portable external hard drive (there were also larger sized ones that you can place on your desk, but I like the idea of portable data) for keeping my data safe. I was actually surprised that it was not as expensive as I thought. I paid under $100 USD for my Seagate 250gb portable external hard drive, that was actually more storage space than my internal hard drive (kind of old PC). All I have to do is plug in the external drive into the USB port and it's as simple as drag and drop my data. Now I rest comfortably knowing my most precious data is safe from unexpected system crashed, and the best of all what i really like about these portable external hard drives are the fact that you can take them with you anywhere and they only weight a few ounces, I've seen cell phones weigh more than them.
I highly recommend investing in a portable external hard drive if you have never backed up your data or need more storage space for backing up data, and also if you travel a lot and need access to your personal data on the go. Feel free to visit my blog where I discuss certain factors to look at when purchasing a portable external hard drive.

USB 3.0 PCI Adapter for Super Speed Data Transfer Rates

Once my manager asked me to transfer huge data files (up to 300GB) from the server to the external USB 2.0 hard drive, it took me hours to complete the task successfully. The reason why the data must be transferred to external disk was because the data must be copied to the mirror server in Sydney. It was in remote site where communication must be done via satellite. WAN link between remote sites to central office use satellite link with only 512 Kbps bandwidth.
Normally we use the autoloader tape backup as the central backup system for all the data servers. Autoloader tape backup solution is very advantageous for multi-server environment which reduces the overhead cost and time spent by the administrator to maintain the backup system. I didn't copy the data on the backup tape, which must be easier and faster, because the backup cartridge used in remote site was not compatible with the mirror server in the head office. So, the solution was to transfer the data to the USB 2.0 external hard disk.
The maximum data transfer rate for USB 2.0 based adapter is around 480 Mbps. Actually this is a fast enough transfer rate for home usage. But for business environments where huge data backup / data transfer tasks frequently use USB external storage for some cases, the transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps (using USB 2.0 based device) is not fast enough to support your data copy tasks. Today, you can use the Super Speed USB 3.0 for super speed data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps using USB 3.0 card adapters. With USB 3.0 card adapter, you can transfer your business data to the external USB 3.0 storage (such as Iomega eGo 2 TB USB 3.0 external hard drive) 10 times much faster than the speeds of USB 2.0 devices can transfer.
This type of USB 3.0 PCI express card adapter will only work on the computers / servers that support PCI Express slots. Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCI Express or PCI-E) is PCI which uses a much faster physical-layer communications protocol than traditional PCI bus architecture. PCI-E uses dedicated, unidirectional, point-to-point connections lanes to communicate with PCI Express devices.
The following are two types of USB 3.0 PCI-express card adapters you can use for your computers with PCI-express enabled.
TRENDnet 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Adapter TU3-H2PIE
TU3-H2PIE is a USB 3.0 Card to add two super speed USB 3.0 ports to your desktop computers or servers with PCI Express enabled. It can support the super speed transfer rates of up to 5Gbps which is 10 times faster than traditional USB 2.0. The adapter is backward compatible with traditional USB 2.0 devices. It supports Windows 7 (32/64-bit), Windows Vista (32/64-bit), and Windows XP (32/64-bit).
Belkin SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Express Card
Like Trendnet TU3-H2PIE, Belkin USB 3.0 Card adds two USB 3.0 ports to your desktop computers for super speed data rate transfers up to 5Gbps. It is also backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. Belkin USB 3.0 can support computers with Windows XP; Windows Vista, and Windows 7 platforms.
USB 3.0 PCI adapter is a high speed data transfer rate solution for your business computers. But you can use the adapter only if your computers support the PCI Express slot. To obtain the maximum data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps, you need to connect the adapter to the same USB 3.0 devices such as Iomega eGo 2 TB USB 3.0 disk drives.

What to Do Before You Reformat Your Hard Drive

Computers play a very important role in our lives today. Almost everyone is now familiar with computers and there are even some that perceive computers as an indispensable part of their daily routine. However, just like any machine, computers are subject to wear and tear and you may need to reformat your hard drive at some later point in time. Before you reformat, there are several things which you need to know and do first.
Reformatting the hard drive is what others call the hard option, and this should only be done as a last resort and not mainly taken out of whim. If you are using Windows XP and having the problems such as frequent "blue screen of death" occurrences, missing DLL errors and constant software crashes even after you have performed steps including virus or spyware scanning, defrag, chkdsk, and all other solutions which are available online or on the manual, then you probably need to reformat the hard disk. In short, when you have done everything other than bathing your PC with soap and water, then it is time to consider a reformat.
Before you take out that Windows XP installation CD out that you bought a couple of years back and start the reformatting process, it is always a good idea to create a backup of the important files on your PC. There are several ways to do this, but the simplest form is just to copy all your important files to a high-capacity flash drive or an external hard disk drive.
If you forgot where you put that driver disk that came along with your computer, you should first check the device drivers on your PC by clicking start, then run, and type in dxdiag. It will show you three most important devices on your PC and these are the display, sound, and network devices. You need to take the information that appears under drivers or the name of the device on a piece of paper and then store it in a safe place.
Once you are done with backing up your files and taking note of the drivers, you can now begin the reformat by putting the Windows CD into the tray and rebooting the computer. If your computer comes with a recovery CD, reformatting and installation of some application software would be much easier. Once done, you will notice a significant boost in the performance of your computer. It will be as if the computer that you had when you first opened the box.

Superior Data Protection With SCSI Hard Drives

Data protection and preservation is always a problem for the businesses with huge database. But this problem has multiple solutions including the use of SCSI hard drives. SCSI stands for small computer system interface. It is a physical device that helps in transferring and connecting data between computers and other devices. This technology can be used for scanners, CD drivers but mostly it is mostly used for tape drive and hard disks.
So how exactly do these hard drives help a business?
It is very simple to understand. Businesses nowadays use computers for storing their significant documents and files regarding clients' details, financial statements, operational activities, records of expenditure on labour, capital and other resources. Although computers have vast memory but it is not sufficient enough to store all the day to day data of a business. There is a point where your computer starts to operate at full capacity and you are then faced with the need for more storage space. In such circumstance, SCSI hard drives are used to increase the performance and storage capacity.
What are the benefits associated with its use?
This technology has helped many individuals and businesses by storing data which a computer cannot store alone. Some of its exclusive benefits include the following:
  1. Speed if the key benefit of this hard drive. It ensures that data is transferred and accessed in the minimum time possible.
  2. Moreover, it supports a wide array of peripheral devices such as your iPod, iPads and USBs.
  3. It also helps the entrepreneur in securing his investment by providing the facility of backward compatibility with previously invented SCSI drives.
  4. Huge storage capacity is yet another benefit. This hard drive helps in transferring and storing very large amounts of data.
  5. Last but not the least, it offers the highest degree of reliability to its users.
Does this hard drive have some limitations?
Well, where there are so many benefits associated with the use of any technology, there are certain limitations too. This data storage and transfer system has the following limitations:
  1. Almost every good thing in this world has a price attached to it and so does this hard drive. The initial cost of purchasing this drive is high but the people who intend to buy it should not forget the numerous benefits it can bring to them.
  2. Secondly, a widely faced issue with this drive is that it is not supported by every computer. But this issue can be resolved by using SCSI controller add-in card.
There are different SCSI connections like the SCSI-1 connection that offers a transfer rate of 4 MB per second. Likewise, the SCSI-2 connection can connect multiple peripheral devices while offering the convenience of transferring 4MB of data per second. The ones with much larger connectivity options, storage space and fast transfer rate are Fast and Ultra SCSI drives.
Seagate  ST2000DM is one of the many models of this hard drive. It offers the most reliable solution to the problem of excess data.

4 Good Reasons to Hire Professional Data Recovery Services

Imagine what would happen if your computer hard disk crashed unexpectedly and you discovered that your personal data had not been backed up for several months.
For most businesses and corporate institutions, the loss of confidential data can be huge financially. It can take weeks or months to re-create lost files such as complex spreadsheets or software source files. In some cases, re-creating the files might not even be a viable option - for example, if the data you've lost included files required by your company's CEO for board meeting scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning.
In such a case, hard disk data recovery could be the ideal to recover your lost data files.
There are a number of hard disk data recovery options available to home and office users. Individuals can use data recovery freeware or software programs to recover data from a partially functional hard drive. On the corporate level, it simply pays to call in a data recovery expert to handle the job. Deciding whether to attempt the job personally or whether to call in a pro is not always easy.
There are certain key factors that can help with the decision making process. Essentially, it's time to call in a hard disk data recovery specialist for the following reasons:
1. A computer won't boot at all.

When your PC will not allow you to enter any commands when booting up, the chances are that a professional job is required. While hard disk data recovery programs can and do work, they cannot function if a computer will not boot up the operating system and read them. In this situation, getting in a technical expert to do the job would be the best option.
2. Recovery programs do not work.

Sometimes a hard disk data recovery program will fail to restore the necessary files. If this happens, the data recovery professionals might still be able to save the day and recover your data.
3. Your lost data files are particularly valuable.

If the files trapped on a computer are impossible to replace, it can simply make sense to bypass personal efforts to restore data and go straight to a professional. While hard disk data recovery programs can be very useful, a professional can often produce better results, or at least deliver more peace of mind in the process.
4. You may not be confident of doing the job yourself.

Sometimes people question their own ability to handle hard disk data recovery, especially if it's something that they haven't done before. If you're not sure what to do, if there is any doubt or concerns in your mind, then do not hesitate in calling in a data recovery specialist.
Although it's not 100% certain that a hard disk data recovery effort will result in a positive outcome, on most occasions it will. There are many data recovery programs available online which can help recover your data, especially on functional systems.
However, getting data recovery professionals involved at an early stage in the recovery process, especially on failed systems, is usually the safest option as it gives you total peace of mind.

Data Recovery Is Never Expected - Be Prepared!

Encountering data recovery is not unusual. If you have never experienced a data recovery situation before, keep reading because it could happen to you. Even when the proper precautions are taken, the odds are stacked against you. Anything from accidentally emptying the recycle bin or hitting the shift+delete function on a file you had no intention of erasing can make data recovery a reality for you.
You can handle hard disk recovery in a couple of ways: as a preventative measure or as a corrective solution once the data is actually lost. You are probably wondering how to begin recovering your own lost data. To start, we can explore some situations to help you retrieve your files.
Software programs
Who wouldn't like free data recovery software? If you're feeling financially challenged, this can sound like a pretty good option. There are lots of free data recovery utilities available on the Internet that makes all sorts of promises just to get you to click through. There are lots of free data recovery utilities available on the Internet that makes all sorts of promises just to get you to click through.
Sure the idea of being able to recover your data for free sounds great, but the truth is you will end up with exactly what you pay for. Ask yourself: You don't want to repeat this process more than once? It's no day at the beach. The bottom line is nothing worth having is going to be free.
Your next best bet is finding cheap data recovery programs. Software is considered a discounted solution compared with other recovery services. You can recover your deleted files for the same price as a lunch out on the low end. More advanced programs can cost upwards of a hundred dollars. Each of these solutions is considered a real deal.
Expert services
Choosing the services of a professional data recovery specialist means you are serious about file recovery. This says you must mean business because you are willing to fork out the much higher expense. Data recovery service prices range from five hundred to a couple of thousand US dollars, depending on your problem.
Your quick review
The greatest way to data recovery is to avoid it all together with some quality file backup system. But, when they flop or you really don't have that choice at this moment, turning to the remaining file recovery options is the only logical choice. This means, you may want to give one of the data recovery service companies a hollar. If your on a strict budget, and you want to give the least expensive choices a try, go straight to file recovery software. If that doesn't pan out, then give the local guy a jungle.
Last but not least, you will be lucky if you get to choose your starting point and in most cases, your hard drive will tell you where to start. A file recovery product may do the job. when it doesn't you need to contact a data recovery technician.

Connections: Business Process Management and Six Sigma

One of the most powerful ways to improve business processes is combining business process management (BPM) strategies with Six Sigma strategies. BPM strategies emphasize process improvements and automation to drive performance, while Six Sigma uses statistical analysis to drive quality improvements. The two strategies are not mutually exclusive, however, and many companies have discovered that combining BPM and Six Sigma can create dramatic results.
BPM basics
Let's first take a look at the basics of BPM. It uses a four step method to create better processes and improve performance. The steps are as follows:
- Map the process (whether new or existing) from start to finish, capturing each step along the way
- Execute the process by using people and automated applications, with specific assignments of responsibilities and accountabilities for each step
- Manage the process through information flow, actions and related activities
- Analyze process performance and metrics, using findings as the basis for continuous process improvement
BPM has a strong base in software applications to help streamline and automate processes. At the software level, BPM is commonly applied within a single department or group to improve a specific process.
From the software level, BPM expands to a suite of software applications. The suite level enables BPM to link multiple departments or groups that affect processes. It promotes information sharing and accountability through use of a work portals where multiple users can share knowledge, documentation, and process management.
At its highest level, BPM expands to an enterprise-wide system. This level combines software and IT aspects with management practices to address broad structural and systemic issues within a business or organization. Business practices and operations are examined from a holistic standpoint, paying close attention to how occurrences in any one part of the system have a ripple effect across the organization.
Six Sigma basics
The concept of Six Sigma was developed at Motorola in the 1980's as they worked to improve the quality of their products and services. By implementing a systematic, rigorous routine, they were able to improve their products and increase customer satisfaction, thus increasing profits.
Six Sigma approaches business processes from a highly statistical standpoint. It incorporates three levels of activity:
- Metrics - statistical focus to make process outcomes 99.9997% defect free, otherwise expressed as 3.4 defects per million opportunities
- Methodology - structured approach to solving problems that uses specific tools and process mapping to achieve the metric goal
- Philosophy - the enterprise-wide embrace of defect reduction by making decisions based on hard data and customer focus
In short, Six Sigma allows an organization to reduce the variability in its products and services so that waste is reduced, efficiency is improved, and customer satisfaction is dramatically increased. Business problems are solved through rigorous application of data collection and analysis tools. The training that Six Sigma users receive is quite intensive, progressing through several increasingly sophisticated levels based on experience and accomplishment. Professional Six Sigma consultants and practitioners usually work to become certified at the various levels, increasing their ability to help guide development and implementation of Six Sigma methodology.
The methodology of Six Sigma is key to its success. An organization follows a five step progression that uses factual information and statistical analysis to address achievement of operational goals. There are some differences in the five steps depending on whether they are used to improve an existing process or design a new process. The end goal, though, is always to achieve the standard metric of 99.9997% defect free performance.
Combining BPM and Six Sigma
With this basic understanding of BPM and Six Sigma in mind, it is easy to see how powerful it can be to combine the two practices. Their strengths complement each other and create a synergy that infuses the entire operation with a focus on quality and performance.
The strength of BPM lies in its ability to automate processes and workflow through modeling and examination of inputs, outputs and performance. It is not as strong, however, in its ability to analyze data associated with very difficult or multifaceted problems. Six Sigma fills this gap by providing the statistical analysis needed to deal with complex problems.
The strength of Six Sigma lies in its rigorous approach to data collection and analysis. Through this process it is can identify even the smallest opportunities for process improvement, maximizing an organization's ability to institute necessary changes. It is not as strong, however, in its ability to monitor process improvements and ensure they are applied across the board. BPM fills this gap by providing tools to automate process improvements and connect those improvements across the entire organization.
Both BPM and Six Sigma represent significant commitments on the part of a business or organization, and they take time to implement them thoroughly. Tremendous organizational change is often required, leading most companies to start with a single department or pilot project and expand their use over a multi-year period. It is well worth the time and effort, though, to generate the substantial business improvements that are typical with BPM and Six Sigma.

Notebook Hard Disk Performance Features

Owning a notebook has its downside. Oftentimes, you may find yourself with the need to change or upgrade your notebook hard disk. The status of the hard disk from your notebook will greatly affect the performance of your mini-computer. Take note that the notebook speed to process the running programs and applications are relatively slow compared to that of a desktop.
The hard disk from a notebook requires a constant upgrade. Some use an external disk from their laptop. It allows them to enjoy more programs and storage ability when using it than exclusively relying on the internal hard disk of their mobile computer.
Commonly, notebook disks are available in a couple of types namely the 2.5" and 1.8". The latter is hardly available in retails stores however since they are only used in ultraportable notebooks such as from Fujitsu, Thinkpad ultraportable by Sony. They are not easily upgradable. The 2.5" is commonly used in majority of notebook units and are readily available in the market.
The notebook hard disk connects to the computer through either an IDE or Serial ATA connectors. About 90% of notebooks use the IDE connectors and is widely available in most computer shops. You may know which connector your notebook is using by checking the drive if there is a two row grid of pinholes. This indicates you have an IDE.
In order to optimize the performance of your notebook, you shoulder prefer getting a laptop with 2.5" hard disk on your internal drive with an IDE connector. You should also get one with a fast speed of 7200rpm. However this will make your drive produce more heat than running a drive at a lower speed. Higher speed laptops usually are expensive. This is the extra price to pay for owning a more efficient and fast performing mobile computer.
A friend recommends the following brands for a more efficient laptop at a high performance: Toshiba, Dell, Fujitsu, Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi. You must also keep in mind precautions to observe when installing a hard disk drive on your laptop. For safety purpose, it is suggested to keep a back up files of your documents and programs to a CD before installation of your disk drive. The performance of your notebook will depend on the specification of your hard drive so it is best to asses your needs before choosing a hard disk to install in your notebook. If you will be using many programs often, then it is wise to buy a fast running drive for the notebook's optimal performance.

MSI Live Update 4
NVIDIA Hybrid(TM)SLI
True Audio Blu-ray
By the specifications of the NF750-G55 it's easy to conclude that MSI has worked hard to produce something a little extra with this board. The board offers support for SLI, Hybrid SLI and has some interesting proprietary technologies of MSI, like the "Easy OC Switch". In this review I will not test the SLI functionality since it's been done before, instead I will focus on the integrated GeForce 8200 chip and see what it can produce in terms of performance.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The NF750-G55 comes in a rather sober looking cardboard box of standard size. On it, MSI emphasizes the support of the latest AMD processors, the support for SLI and Hybrid SLI and some of the extra features like the True Blu-ray Audio, APS and Easy OC Switch.
The included accessories are: a manual; a quick start installation guide; a drivers and utilities CD; the I/O back panel plate; SATA and IDE cables and a SATA power converter cable.
MSI NF750-G55 IN DETAIL
Although the MSI NF750-G55 is of the ATX standard, it's a little narrower than most other ATX boards.
There are 4 memory slots which supports up to 16GB of DDR3 (up to 1600MHz). To clarify a little here, the chipset officially only supports up to 1333MHz, but it's possible to run the memories at 1600MHz by doing a small change to the multiplier in the BIOS.
The only heatsink on the motherboard is the heatsink located on the nForce 750a SLI circuit.
The CPU cooler is fastened with screws which I think is great since it allows you to really get a grip of how tight the cooler is fastened, much better than with plastic anchorage systems. The 4 pin connector for the CPU is located in the middle of the board.
The MSI Active Phase Switching (APS) is located to the right of the 12V ATX connector. This system is in charge of real time automatic regulation of the power feeded to the CPU. The power level is actually illustrated by 4 LEDs which is a nice extra feature.
The board has two PCI-E x16 ports and 1 PCI port. As you can see; the PCI-E ports are separated by quite a big distance. If you use a double slot card in the second PCI-E port you will not be able to use the PCI port at all. It would have been better to place the PCI port before the first PCI-E x16 port.
The internal connectivity also incorporates 5 SATA 2 ports with RAID functionality, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a COM port connector, connectors for external audio; digital S/PDIF and a CD contact.
The integrated chips for the sound and the Ethernet connectivity are the Realtek ALC889 and RTL45CL. Both chips are of high quality and supported with excellent drivers. The Fintek chip located next to the battery is in charge of the general I/O functions of the motherboard and also makes it possible to control fans with the popular SpeedFan program.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of this motherboard is the "Easy OC Switch". It consists of a pink switch as you can see from the image below. This switch allows us to increase the FSB of up to 35% without having to do any other changes. In principle this addition is excellent, but it will only work well if the processor you are using supports overclocking without needing an increase of the voltage.
The back panel connectivity is excellent; check the specifications above for a complete list.
INSTALLING THE TEST EQUIPMENT
For the tests of the MSI NF750-G55 I used the following hardware and software:

VLC 1.0
Here are a couple of screenshots of the hardware I used:
In the graphics test I used a resolution of 1024×800 with the highest graphics settings.
BIOS
The BIOS on this board comes from AMI (American Megatrends Inc) and is very intuitive and easy to handle when overclocking.
The menu that interested me the most was of course the Cell Menu where all the real important settings are, at least of you want to overclock your system. Even though the NF750-G55 can be considered a medium range motherboard it offers many possibilities for overclocking both the CPU and the memory modules.
The M-Flash program which is incorporated in this BIOS is actually unique to MSI motherboards. It's a smart little program which lets us update the BIOS and even to backup and recover old BIOS versions.
There is also a menu called "User Settings". It makes it possible to setup different "profiles" of the BIOS setting. This can come in handy if you want to quickly load a preset of overclocking settings for a gaming session or similar.
BENCHMARKING TESTING PART 1
The CPU performance of the nForce 750a chip is within the margins that I had hoped for. However the memory testing came out a little short which surprised me as this is normally a strong area with the NVIDIA chips.
BENCHMARKING TESTING PART 2
The read and write speeds of the HD were very good which means that NVIDIA have solved the driver issues which have caused the hard disk to work slower than it should on older chipsets.
REAL WORLD TESTING
What draw my attention of the above results were the poor results from the WinRAR test. My conclusion is that it must be due to the memory problem noted above.
In the test of the IGP GeForce 8200 chip I didn't receive any remarkable results in the 3D testing so it's easy to conclude that you shouldn't use it for gaming. It did work just fine for playback of HD videos though.
The power usage of this system is really low, especially when it's operating in idle mode which makes it a good choice if you are building a 24/7 system.
OVERCLOCKING CAPACITY
NVIDIA has made classic AMD overclocking chipsets in the past including the now almost mythical nForce 2 and nForce 4 platforms. So what about the nForce 750a SLI overclocking capabilities? The following screenshots says it all:
I was able to overclock the FSB to 264MHz (!) which was actually a bit surprising to me, I hadn't expected it to be so "overclock friendly" being a medium range card.
I also tried to overclock the integrated graphics card (GeForce 8200). I managed to get it to run stable at 601/1442MHz for the core and shaders respectively.
CONCLUSIONS
My first experience with the NF750 chipset has been a pleasure. The MSI NF750-G55 is a very diverse motherboard. It can be used in a hardcore SLI high end system or it can be used as a base plate for a HTPC project thanks to the integrated VGA with HDMI output.
Generally, MSI has managed to build a great motherboard around the nForce 750a SLI chipset. Its performance and overclocking abilities are excellent as the same goes for its connectivity. The integrated graphics solution is good but not as powerful as some of the integrated chips that AMD/ATI offers.

A Quick Guide to Identifying SCSI Interfaces

If you are looking for a new SAS or SCSI hard drive for your personal or business use, it can be tricky to figure out which product you need to be searching for. This article is intended as brief guide to identifying and distinguishing between SCSI and SAS and also the different variations of SCSI connections.
The very first industry standard interface, the 50 pin SCSI hard drive is a very old product. You can, however, still find them today, although they typically offer much lower storage capacity than modern SCSI hard drive products. The very first sizes of these devices were only around 4.5 GB to 9 GB, reaching anywhere up to 18 GB.
Nowadays, SCSI is available up to 300 GB, which is a big difference with the very first models. You can often find old 50 pin SCSI drive products in SUN, Unix, Amiga and SGI machines. Most of the 50 pin disks around nowadays are 3.5" half height form factor.
Next is the 68 pin SCSI hard drive, which is also known as the SCSI-2. This is an Ultra Wide type of interface, and was widely used from 1994 onwards and is still used today. These disks, however, are being phased out, despite the fact that there are still a number of brand new disks still to be found.
The size range of the 68 pin SCSI hard drive is from 18 GB to up to 300 GB, and various models can be found in numerous online and hardware stores worldwide. These kinds of disks were very quickly re-invented and adapted after their initial appearance on the market, with the 80 pin SCA connector launched in the 1990s.
The 80 pin SCSI hard drive has a single connector attachment, also known as SCA or hot plug. These were developed mainly for server use as they had only one D connector that sat right in the centre of the board on the disk. This single connector had power, SCSI ID and SCSI bus all rolled into a single connection.
As this disk required only one connector that interfaced with the server's back plane and powered it up, this differentiated it from the 50 pin and 68 pin SCSI hard drive, both of which needed a separate cable for power and for the data interface.
Due to this, the phrase "Hot Pluggable" Disk trays or caddies were used to house the 80 pin SCSI drives, so it became a simple and straightforward task of pushing the disks in and out of the server disk bays. This type of SCSI hard drive is widely used today in HP, Dell, IBM, Sun and many more servers.
The 80 pin SCSI drive, however, was never developed to a capacity greater than 300 GB, meaning that a new innovation as necessary. This is where SAS comes in, and is used in many of the newer servers today.
In addition to the 80 pin hot pluggable SCSI drive, there is an adaptor or convertor that can be used to manipulate how the tunnelling of SCSI is used and therefore transform the 80 pin disk into either the 68 pin or the 50 pin SCSI drive. It consists of a single board that clips easily onto the SCA connector of any 80 pin SCSI disk, and can be very handy for data transfer and recovery.
This is just a basic introduction to the SCSI hard drive interface and the different products available on the market today. If looking to replace or upgrade your product, it is always best to seek expert help and guidance from a trusted retailer or other expert if you have any doubts. This will ensure that you purchase the best product for your machine and your specific purposes.

IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T410 Review

The IBM Thinkpad, now produced by Lenovo, has continued to enjoy its status as a standard notebook choice among corporations and businesses worldwide. At the recent Consumer Electronics Show, Lenovo indicated it had no intention of letting up the slack in its efforts to stay current with the latest notebook technologies. It has continued to roll out updates to its flagship Thinkpad line, and in recent months, the Thinkpad T410 received several significant upgrades, including addition of the latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors by processing giant Intel. As a result, the Thinkpad line, known for its ruggedness, reliability, and unassuming black exterior, has received significant speed and power boosts to keep it in the competition among the latest offerings by other business laptop manufacturers. The T410 looks and feels like a Thinkpad. It comes in matte black styling, it feels rugged and resilient, but it has numerous and notable changes under the hood. Essentially, the outside looks old, but the inside feels new. The specifications of those insides will be discussed below.
What are the specifications of the T410?
The Lenovo Thinkpad T410 notebook is outfitted with an Intel Core i5 540 M processor that features four cores running at 2.53 GHz, which will provide more than enough power for typing documents, surfing the internet, and watching movies. 4 GB of IBM Memory is included, giving you the ability to multitask with several documents and windows open at once without the notebook slowing to a crawl. The graphics card is modest, an NVIDIA NVS 3100m with 512 MB in memory, but it will be enough for most non gaming activities, which the 320 GB 7200 RPM Seagate hard drive will be big enough for most work related projects and snappier than the typical 5400 RPM drive that comes with most notebook computers. The Thinkpad additionally comes with Windows 7 Professional, 4 USB ports, and a 1440x900 resolution 14.1" LED-backlit screen. However, the notebook does not include an HDMI output, which may disappoint road warriors who were hoping to be able to watch movies on high definition televisions in hotel rooms or when back at home. However, it is possible to order the T410 with a 9-cell battery that offers almost 8 hours of use.
Summary
For less than $1500, the T410 is a worthy competitor in the growing market of fast and powerful business class notebooks. It comes in a 14.1" form factor that makes it small enough to be used in coach class seating on airlines, yet it packs in enough resolution at 1440x900 to make typing documents and watching movies feasible choices for people interested in a mix of business and pleasure. The notebook is not as thin as some might desire, but with that thickness comes the protection and reassurance that the computer (and all the data you have inside it) won't sing its swan song if you drop it from arm's height in a moment of carelessness while rushing to catch your flight.

Manage Your Hard Disk Drives

A hard disk is the most commonly used storage device. Users depend on disk drives to save their spreadsheets, word-processing documents, pictures, and other kinds of data. Hard drives are organized into two file systems that can be accessed by the users remotely and locally. Being a system administrator, it is your job to manage the disk resources wherever they are located. The techniques and tools you apply to manage your drives and file systems are given below.
Adding Hard Drives
Before making a hard drive available to users, you will need to configure the disk and consider a way to use it. You can use variety of ways to configure the disk drive with Microsoft Windows 2000. The technique you select will depend primarily on the kind of data you are dealing with and requirements of the network environment. You may like to configure the individual drives for general user data saved on workstations. In this case, the general user data is saved locally and it can be easily accessed. It is the most reliable and convenient way to save data. In order to improve performance and reliability, you may need a set of hard disks to work together.
Physical Hard Disks
Whether you use drive sets or individual drives, you will need physical disk drives. These physical disks are the actual devices that store all your data. The size of your hard disk drive determines the total amount of data that it can store. The commonly available hard disks provide storage capacities between 2 GB and 25 GB. The most commonly used drives on Windows 2000 include Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI).
The terms IDE and SCSI designate the type of interface used by your hard disks. This interface communicates with the drive controller. The SCSI disk drives offer more options with better speed and they are usually more expensive than the IDE drives.
Preparing your Drive for use
After installing the drive, you will need to configure the disk for use. The configuration can be done by partitioning the drive and making file systems in those partitions, as per requirement. A partition can be defined as a section of your physical disk that functions as a separate unit.
Using Disk Management
You will need to use Disk Management Tools to configure your disk drives. This utility makes it convenient to work with all the external and internal hard disks on a remote or local system. Follow these simple steps to start the Disk Management and make a connection to a local or remote system:
· By selecting Programs from Start menu, run Computer Management. Now select Administrative tools and click on the Computer Management.
· You are automatically connected to a local computer on which you are running the Computer Management.
· Now expand Storage and select Disk Management and easily manage your drives on the remote or local system.

What is the Best Laptop Hard Drive?

Most of you will be aware that your laptops hard drive is where you store all your files and programs, and that you have a limited amount of space governed by the size of your hard drive. What some of you might not know is that the type of hard drive you have can effect how fast your laptop will run. Here is a short tutorial to help you choose the fastest hard disk for your laptop.
The speed of a hard dish is determined by a couple of factors, the first of which is the speed at which it can operate. This is measured in RPM and speeds range from 4200RPM all the way to 10 000RPM. Most new laptops come with a 5400RPM hard disk which is OK and forms the standard speed these days. A 5400RPM hard drive will be fast enough for most laptop users, unless you are planning to play games or do graphical or video editing, where you should be looking at a 7200RPM hard disk instead.
The other factor influencing hard disk speed is the amount of memory it has also known as Cache, measured in Megabytes (MB). This can range from 2MBs to 32Mbs and the more it has the faster it will be. Most laptop manufacturers do not specify this so don't worry too much if you cannot find it out.
The other thing you need to know is how much hard drive space you will need in your laptop. The size of a hard drive does not influence its performance only the amount of data you can store on it. A song will use up about 0.003Gbs, a full length movie about 1GB and computer games will use anywhere from 5-15GBs of space. You will need to estimate the amount of space you will require.
There is only one type of hard disk that does not fit with our guide. A Solid State Drive (SSD). These are like giant USB flash memory sticks you might use to store files on when moving from computer to computer. The only difference is that they are large enough to act as your laptops hard drive. These perform far faster than even the best of conventional hard disks as they have no moving parts. However, as with all new technology they are very expensive so we recommend you stay away from these unless you want to show off or want very fast loading times.

My Experience With PC3000 UDMA - Unveil the Mask of the ACE Lab

As the first manufacturer of HD data recovery tool aimed at firmware restoration, so far ACE lab already released 3 versions: PC3000ISA, PC3000PCI and PC3000UDMA. ACE Lab has a large number of clients since its first PCI version till latest UDMA. However, to thousands people, the product called PC3000 from ACE lab is like a sealed book which is not readable nor understood by common users. Now, being a client of ACE lab from its ISA, PCI and UDMA, I would like to unveil the mask of ACE lab and restore the truth of PC3000.
I have clients from enterprises and they often ask me, which is the right data recovery device? Or directly, what do you think of PC30000? Well, it is not a secret any more that PC3000 is the most well known device in this field. Hereby, I'd love to tell my point of view on the product from Ace Lab.
Through many years of development, it seems that PC3000 has perfect image in this field: powerful functions, stable work performance and user script edition and etc. That's right, PC3000 appears as industrial dominant. You will be recognized as expert if you have original latest version (PC3000 UDMA), and also you can master of all the functions. But which country has the most clients of PC3000? Ironically, the most clients are not in US nor Canada, Germany, India but in China. The pirated versions spread widely and are abused. For example, you can buy pirated PCI version at 500USD or less, which normal original one costs thousands. In the way of this, PC3000 gets big fame due to the pirated users.
Well, it may be a little off topic. I don't want to discuss why the pirated PC3000 is in China. I only want to tell my experience with PC3000 from the very beginning.
I bought PC3000 UDMA with Data Extractor (DE) as the first batch of users in America in 2007, paid by credit card. 3 weeks later before I lost my patience, I got my new toy at last. I have to say, it was not a happy experience for me because I often get my stuff, such as donor drives on eBay one or two day.
To help more people know the PC3000UDMA, I will explain in detail.
1) The Installation and Operations:
You need a desktop computer to install the PCI card first, then the program, there is a P/N number and the password during the installation, if you make mistake during the process, you have to start from the very beginning. After you install the program, you need an email address to receive your key to activate. Please remember, you can not use it on any other computer even you reinstall the PCI card or program. It is to avoid the pirate version.
Some people think that if you have the UDMA card, then you can recover data. That's totally wrong! The file recovery tasks are completed by the software-Data Extractor. So, if you need PC3000USD and Data Extractor.
In the menu, it has hundreds options and combinations, you need switch between the options and try your best not to make any wrong operations. Otherwise, you may wash data thoroughly. Someone think naively that if they have an original PC3000 UDMA, then they can set up a data recovery company; it is only their wishful-thinking. You need take at least one year to get familiar with all the functions and half known the product. Besides, experience is another key factor for people in this field.
2) Updates and Support
Well, I am a little mad at their cruel update policy. After one month from my purchase date, they announced on their website a new upgrade. I called Deepspar In Canada and asking about the new upgrade. And I said my version was not the latest and wanted a update. A man on that side of phone asked me, "did you pay?" "No, I just bought it a month before." Then, I was demanded to pay another hundred $ to get the upgrade. Ouch, I only bought it from them one month ago! Even it was a matter of hundred Dollars, but it made me feel uncomfortable.
Okay, after I emailed to them and posted my questions on their forum, my angry to them increased. It seems ACE people disappeared or hired some part-time workers. I waited for their reply weeks and they just ignored my questions. Maybe because I have too many questions or they thought I asked too much about their secret technologies? I was totally confused. So, finally, I learn that the only one you can lean on is yourself. I keep learning and read their thick manual, along with the time, I master this piece of high-tech toy.
3) Functions and their development trend
Since more models of hard drive appear on market soon, ACE lab needs invest more on the new technology. Such as Seagate 7200.11 problem, they released the solution just a few months ago, but after some other companies. Another fact is the RAID, more and more application on today's Information Era, I already submitted this advice to them 1 year ago but it seems they haven't released its official version? Maybe they are going to release after you pay extra fee.
Flash recovery/ NAND chip recovery, a trend of new technology, their Flash Device; I am so sorry that I have not purchased it yet. I hope they can really think about clients and make a capable device. Not only several models.
The data recovery market warms up and it requires not only products but also support and training. More newly data recovery companies will boom, they expect capable products, quality support and overall training. Especially their products are complex and hard to figure all the things out. If they still keep arrogant and ignoring the needs from their clients, they will be replaced. The market is huge and promising, I believe, they will be substituted one day by competitors.
My suggestion to ACE lab,1) build more training and sales channels, don't keep your clients wait too long, they may change their mind; 2) be nice to your clients and be professional and responsible on Support; if it can be free, it will be better; 3) reset your price, your high price will scare and lose some new beginners; 4) make your tools simper and easier, no one wants to take years to master your products and start business.
Finally, as a friendly advice to all computer users, Backup, Backup and Backup. If unfortunately, data recovery service is required, then good luck to Data Recovery people.

Replacing Computer Hard Drives

Have you run out of storage space in your computer?
Perhaps it's time for a bigger hard drive!
In this article you'll find out how to replace your current hard drive.
In actuality the computer wouldn't even run without a hard disk drive, its BIOS or basic operating system would be looking for it the minute you turned it on.
The hard disk drive is a sealed unit with multiple rigid magnetic disks inside.

It is sealed to prevent any foreign particles from entering inside it, which would render the drive useless.

Hard disk drives come in many sizes, anywhere from a few hundred megabytes to several gigabytes.
Now that's what I call a memory bank!
I wish I had one of these babies in my head, then I'd never forget anything again.
Obviously you'd want to get a large enough hard drive for your needs.
Like memory modules, the bigger the better.
But remember, the larger the hard drive the more it will cost you.
There are currently 3 types of HARD DRIVES:
IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics).
EIDE (Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics) and,
SCSI (Small Computer Serial Interface) - A SCSI expansion card is needed.
The most popular being the EIDE drive.
Most current motherboards support EIDE drives, but check your motherboard owner's manual to be sure.
On the back of the hard drive you'll notice 2 connectors.
The smaller one is to supply DC power to the drive.
The larger one is used for data communications to and from the computer.
You'll also notice there are jumpers, much like your motherboard and expansion boards.
If this is the only hard drive in your system you'll want to set it as your master drive.
Most of the time the drive will be already configured at the factory for master drive # 1.
Connect one of the remaining power leads from the power supply to the DC power connector on the drive.
The power connector is keyed so it will only fit one way.
Connect the larger flat ribbon cable to the motherboard and to the data connector on the drive, making sure the dotted colored edge goes to pin # 1 (usually near the power connector).
Slide the drive into one of the bays and secure it with 4 Phillips screws using a non-magnetic screwdriver only!
To remove or replace the drive, simply reverse the procedure.

Design of Experiments for Six Sigma

One of the valuable tools in the Six Sigma toolbox is Design of Experiments. Design of Experiment (DOE) is a structured technique that helps to uncover relationships often hidden inside mountains of data. Within the structure of a Six Sigma project, Design of Experiments is a structured approach to identifying the factors within a process that contribute to particular effects, then creating meaningful tests that verify possible improvement ideas or theories.
Most of us are familiar with the concept of experimentation within the fields of science and medicine. Experiments can be designed and conducted for any process in any field not just testing physics equations or new drugs or medical procedures. Design of Experiments is a formal statistical methods required to ensure that the testing or piloting of any new improvement ideas maximize the informational potential of the trial and ultimately the return to the business. The basic principles of cause and effect and interaction of factors operate everywhere, including manufacturing and service organizations. Design of Experiments is an organized method for determining the relationships between factors that affect a process and the variable outputs of that process. It also serves to verify if a cause and effect relationship really does exist and to identify the vital few causes of variation.
In short, Design of Experiments within Six Sigma is a performance improvement methodology that uses sophisticated statistical techniques to understand and control variation, thus improving predictability of business processes. Experimental methods are used to quantify previously undefined factors and interactions between factors. This is accomplished through crafting planned experiments where controlled changes of factors will determine which factors have the largest impact on quality characteristics. Though the systematic observance of the experiments and statistical measurements of the results, useful data can be assembled and analyzed to understand the relative importance of different factors to overall process variability.
The basic concepts of Design of Experiments are factors, levels, and responses. A factor is an independent variable. In a planned experiment, the factors are deliberately varied in a predetermined manner. A level is a state of the factor that is deliberately varied. Levels can be discrete (present/absent) or numeric. Experimentation is typically done at two, or occasionally three levels for every factor; each separate level constituting an experimental run. The responses, literally the results of the experimental runs, are measured at each run of each factor-level combination. The response can also be discrete or numerical values.
An efficient experimental design varies the multiple factors in an intelligent and controlled sequence. Response data can then be collected in an intelligible way.
Combining all factors and their levels can become too large and expensive of a task, so informed deductions must be made as to which factors will generate the most pertinent data that will provide enough information for confident results. The sequence of runs in the experiment must be randomized. Randomization is crucial to give all external factors an equal chance to affect every run of the experiment. A non-randomized experiment stands a great risk of external factors acting in a systematic manner, adding noise to the response. Multiple sets of experimental runs, called replication, will provide more data and greater confidence in evaluating the results. If the budget allows, conducting more replications is desirable.
Successfully designed experiments will show the relationship between the change in level of each of the factors and the change in response. Once these relationships are understood, they can be used to find "what's best" solutions to process improvement and variation reduction. Design of Experiments is a crucial part of the Six Sigma methodology. It will allow you to see into the heart of the process and what really drives it.
